Where does the name “Taro Health” come from?
Taro (commonly pronounced "tare-o" or "tarr-o") is a starchy vegetable originally cultivated in Asia but now enjoyed around the world. We named our company after the taro root as a nod to the following:
- We are fixing the root causes of the healthcare system, including foundational problems of access, cost of care, and physician burnout.
- We believe having a close relationship with a doctor you trust should be at the root of your care, and that we can't rush these visits. The taro root must be cooked thoroughly to be eaten, and we believe that many great things in life need time.
- The taro root is an excellent source of nutrients and fibers that have been linked to improved heart health, blood sugar levels, body weight and gut health.
- Oh, and we also thought a purple brand would look cool and could actually secure the domain name :)
