About Taro Health

Taro Health is a team of healthcare nerds, software engineers, product designers, direct primary care doctors, health insurance experts, and more. We are building a healthcare system that makes sense, starting by redefining the role of health insurance – one that focuses on reducing friction for doctors and patients, and investing in ways to create more meaningful doctor-patient relationships.

We believe unrushed conversations with doctors lead to better health and lower costs for patients. Our health plans enable all members to have free and frictionless access to a dedicated doctor they know and trust. We’re excited to create health insurance plans you can actually use.

We’re backed by top investors and are looking for values-aligned individuals to join our NYC-based founding team.

Our aspirations for this role

Taro Health is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic designer to help shape the brand and voice of the company. In this role, you will play a critical role in synthesizing and translating our vision to be easily consumable for external stakeholders. Wearing multiple hats is an understatement, but you should feel energized by that level of scope and responsibility.

In this role, you will be the primary design and messaging owner for a number of critical artifacts for the company, which will span from digital ads to print collateral to digital applications and tools. To accomplish this, you will be deeply embedded in both internal operations and with external stakeholders to ensure clarity and consistency of our communications.

To be successful, you will need to internalize the complexities of health insurance and then be able to translate that to multiple different levels – from “explain like I’m 5” versions for social media to sales materials for licensed health insurance brokers. You understand that there is no “one size fits all” solution to this: you are deeply empathetic to each audience’s unique needs, and can be creative and flexible in how to ensure they are properly served.

Taro Health is in its early stages. Each new team member has the opportunity to significantly shape our culture, product, strategy, and operations. Candidates should be eager to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where their contributions have a direct and outsized impact. We do not expect you to be an expert in all areas, and you will have support from across the company in drafting, writing, and marketing your collateral, but you will need to be comfortable working quickly while dealing with complexity. Some days, this means you may be designing something from scratch, while other days you may be working off of a v1 draft from a team member. Some days, you may be thinking about a physical billboard, while other days you will be working on an Instagram ad.

Let’s dive into the details

  • Design and own key marketing collateral, which includes digital (social media, ads, presentations), print (postcards, brochures, leave-behinds), and more
  • Gather and synthesize feedback from internal and external stakeholders in order to create comprehensive and accurate collateral
  • Support internal functions in clearly communicating to their stakeholders, eg. help our Broker and Sales team communicate value props to third-party insurance brokers
  • Ensure clarity of messaging, and consistency of voice and brand across all of these touchpoints – including being involved directly in the user journey and product design
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teammates to ensure goals are being met
  • Iterate quickly on concepts, based on feedback from the market (eg. make more variations from a winning A/B test)
